This book was really close to a DNF. Found it to be slow to get into, and tough to grasp who was on what side. Started to pick up in the middle, and by the time it was over I thought it was okay, but just happy I can move on to the next one.
I liked the subtle nods to The Wizard of Oz, and I’m finding I enjoy the “villain finds love” trope. Experienced as an audiobook, and the dual narration was pleasant. But at the end of the day, this is so far my least favorite of the Never After Series.

I wasn’t sure about 1/2 way through, although initially I was enjoying the story line. But I did love the slow burn and the twists that Emily throws in closer to the endings of her twisted fairy tales. Emily’s writing style keeps me engaged in the plot and the vibes, as long as you trust her process through to the end.
