I loved this book! It is the second book in Mary Frame’s Fox Family series and can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed the first book but this book was even better!!! There are some content warnings in the beginning of the book so check those out before reading.

This book is Oliver & Piper’s story. They met at the end of book one when Oliver’s private jet was used to rescue Piper from an abusive relationship. They shared a sweet night together - one that neither could forget!

Oliver is a wealthy businessman who had a rough childhood. When his mother had died at the hands of a boyfriend, he was put into the foster care system. He was a smart kid who did everything he could to better himself - applying for camps, private schools, etc. just to get out of the system. He is a self made, hunky billionaire but he does have some serious issues with love because of what happened to his mother...until he met Piper.

Piper was an amazing artist. She left home when tragedy hit the family and found herself right in the middle of an abusive relationship. Thankfully her family & Oliver saved her from the abuse and she is starting over in New York - living with her older sister Mindy & working with Oliver (who commissioned some artwork for an exhibition). Piper has a lot of healing to do and Oliver may just be the one to help her…

This steamy rom-com is a quick read with dual POV’s. I loved seeing Oliver from Piper’s perspective- he has such a tough exterior but he really is a sweet, protective, loving guy. The chemistry between them is felt through the words in this book! I really enjoyed getting more of the back story on Oliver. AND the secondary characters - we learned more about Mindy and I absolutely love Carson!

I cannot wait to see what is to come in the next Fox family book! (Im)Patiently waiting!!! I will be checking out more of Mary’s books until then!

Thank you to Mary Frame for the Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for my honest review!

After reading Between a Fox and a Hard Place, when I found out the next book in the series would be Oliver and Piper’s story I was so excited. And it did not disappoint. Oliver’s emotional journey may be my favorite in a book to date. And Piper’s growth as well was impressive. As someone who had been in a similar situation as Piper, I feel a strong connection to her. I am anxiously awaiting the third installment to this series. Thanks to BookFunnel for the free ARC to read and review.

Read this book in one sitting!!

“Our scars are not the same, yet they mirror each other all the same.”
Oliver and Piper both have very damaging pasts with long lasting effects. Both of them deeply guard their hearts and are hesitant to ask for more.

Everyone loves a hard ass with a cinnamon roll center for his woman. I love the way he cares for her and shows his affection in his own ways.
It was so great to watch Piper come back into herself and her confidence after Ben. And the journey was realistic- it wasn’t quick and easy; she struggled and still had occasional moments of doubt. And I loved watching the way her friends and family supported her.

Absolutely loved Carson and the sass he gave, and the nurturing side he brought out of Oliver. Cannot wait for Mindy’s book!

Thanks to Hidden Gems and BookSprout for the ARC

loved it. I figured I would when they were introduced and hinted at to be the next couple of the series and I was not disappointed.

Oliver is what one would expect from a rich and brooding character, though it was nice to get a little more of his background in this book. He pairs nicely with the artistically gifted Piper. There’s a lot of tension between them starting out. I wouldn’t call this a slow burn necessarily, but it isn’t something instant either. It takes a bit to really get them going - each for their own reasons.

The ending felt a little rushed, but overall that can be forgiven. It wasn’t something that I was expecting either and, to some extent, felt a bit out of place, but not enough to ruin the experience of the book.

Overall, compelling characters and a cute romance that deserves to be read.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
