This was super slow. I made it 20% and just wasn’t entertained. Maybe I will try again another time …

Different and enjoyable monster romance

I liked the story.. I found the twist intriguing but I just really loved Lanis. I loved his stalking tendencies and his love for Nessa. It was adorable. Looking forward to more.

Unsure is the author is aware, but the content warning is the last page of the book. I would like to recommend it move the FRONT. While I was expecting the violence, I wasn’t expecting one, or two, other things and would have appreciated the heads up.

After a bit of a slow start (I started it before I logged it here) due to some issues grasping the worldbuilding, I ended up enjoying The Guest With Claws. Although initially confusing, and still a work in progress, the world was interesting and I liked the concept of the hotel. There were some typos etc. that pulled me out of the story, but I liked the leads and the supporting characters, and I will probably check out [b:The Stranger With Wings|122851181|The Stranger With Wings (Monster Hotel #2)|Ella Maven|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1677764960l/122851181._SY75_.jpg|144128536].

Finally, I finished my February Romance/ smut theme books.

🎵Song for Book
"Ascension" by Maxwell

💗Favorite/Funny Quotes
" My integrity matters to me."
" Your purpose is to be fucked"
" I will raze this entire planet to keep you safe"

💗My review
Reincarnation/ fate mates tropes when done well, are fun to read.
I enjoyed the elements of friendship and found families within this story.
The main characters Nessa and Lanis take us on a ride of explosive nookie time, danger, and love that survives lifetimes.
The story plot took me by surprise.  We learn quickly  specific types of humans, known as Deos, are special due to the essence of their produce, making Malice and Moxic creatures powerful. Moxic and malice creatures are from another galaxy. Deos are so important-- Malice has allied with the human government to protect them against the Moxic who already destroyed certain areas of the Earth. Hence, the book gives Earth a Dystopia-esque feel with affluent areas being well-developed.

Also, within the Malice, there is a hierarchy of royal families who are designated folks to sexually explore the deos-- one of non-royal blood can't participate. This is where all the drama unfolds. There are secrets, treason, and familial issues that occur in the later part of the book that had me like whoa 😳 .

🥵SexyTime
It the must vulgar written sexy scene I've read in a long time. I believe this was my  1st squirt scene, and the author did a fabulous job. The flow of the scene is 🤌🏾.

💗What I loved
• Nessa's new friends River ( the snob) and Bee.
•Nessa Cat teddy bear
•Cat parents
•Vic the mean ass cat

I enjoyed this story and am interested in Book 2

Tropes: monster romance, fated mates, plus-sized FMC, scarred-obsessed- stalkerish MMC (I know he is the perfect red flag honestly), reincarnation, found family (kind of)

Not me coming here, giving it 4 stars and then reading all the bad reviews…
I honestly liked it. It is a rapid-paced and fun romance, if u like smut and a little bit of mistery with monsters. I liked the idea of a “monster” hotel and I am a sucker for fated mates soooo it was perfect for me.
The only thing I wasn’t very fond of is the reincarnation theme, but that is just personal preference I think.

His reverent words were like a prayer. “To the last star, my deo.”

This is my first monster romance but it definitely won't be my last. I have adored all of Ella Maven's alien romance novels so I knew she was the author I could trust with my first foray into monsters. I couldn't put this book down - it is a bizarre story about set in a sort of post-apocalyptic Earth where we meet Nessa, who wishes to work at Castle Verna (the Monster Hotel) to pay off her medical debt, and also the monster who is hiding a past that I was desperate to be revealed (and it is!). I enjoyed the "fated mates" portion of this - likely because I love that in Maven's other books. This might not be for everyone but it is certainly for me!
