This book came at the right time for me, when the world was slowing down because of covid isolations and when I was in dire need of avoiding burnout and finding motivations.
The message itself wasn’t anything new, and nothing was extravagantly mind-blowing. But that was the point of the book - to simplify, slow down, and do things that seem to be ‘pointless’ to just be.
One thing I learnt from the book was about ‘keeping up with the Joneses’. That sometimes society overcomplicated the art of mindfulness and simplicity, which was an irony in itself. And by doing so, we accidentally replaced the old Joneses with a new one: minimalism/decluttering/simplifying, to the point of obsession.
Slow down. And just breathe. Do more pointless things.

While this book is aimed at people who are just starting out with mindful, intentional living, I found it to be a good reminder to keep coming back to what’s important — the ‘Why’ of my life, and to ensure that my actions, beliefs, and decisions align with my values. The author Is upfront that her principles and action steps are borne from her personal experience, which is valid. However, those without stable or functional housing, too much stuff, or families may not connect with these references. I felt I had to put these reservations aside to focus on the underlying message, which does resonate. Mindful, intentional, ‘slow’ living is for all. 3.5*
