skimmed the last bit. maybe I just didn't get it because the political events the novel revolves around aren't very close to home for me, but I found the pace pretty plodding and the different narrative voices so samey that they all blended into each other. there was very little to make the reader really care about walid's ultimate fate, especially given that he seems to be portrayed as a not especially pleasant person.
