FMC seems ridiculously naive or just dumb. FMC’s BF was annoying. MMC…I like some kink and dark romance but the graphic murder, threats of rape, drugging women, and just abject humiliation is a miss for me. The villainous rich students with their privilege were caricatures. I absolutely believe this level of privilege exists but the characters were just ridiculous. And don’t  get me started on the author’s clumsy attempts to incorporate their sound track. Not only did I not care about the characters or the world by 21%, I liked them even less than when it started. Not going to waste precious time on more of this drivel.

I’ve heard many things, positive and negative, about this book and I finally decided to give it a shot. Much to my surprise I couldn’t put the book down. The triggers are not my usual cup of tea, but I remained intrigued and loved the secret society aspect more than I thought I would! This is my first dark Romance and I think it was a great choice. Would I recommend this book? That’s complicated. But if you do read this book, don’t say we didn’t warn ya.

WTF did I just read!?

The Ritual was dark and depraved but addictive!

There is a lot of content within the 475 pages of the Ritual; it's a book about secret societies, violence, slavery and more violence. There are many curve balls, and questions are continually left unanswered.

Although The Ritual was sickening, it was a fun read. And I want to read more about the Lords, especially Tyson's story!
