A fun queer YA superhero romp. Nothing too complex plot wise or character wise but well written and enjoyable

I got pretty tired of the superhero book genre a while ago but when I asks my trans friend for a recommendation for the popsugar 2020 challenge prompt #2: A book by a trans or nonbinary author, she recommended this one. I do not regret it! The look into Danny's mind from the beginning and everything else was beyond fantastic. This was a beautifully written book with a very hashed out universe. Cannot wait to read the 2nd one!

Not a fan of the superhero genre.  I did like reading about Danny and her journey to becoming her true self and finding the confidence to stand up for who she is.

Just not my style, unfortunately. Although, I am almost positive it probably excels in its genre and is a feel good, relatable sci-fi/superhero book for those it is more curated too (young adults and queer).

This is the first book I've read with a transgender main character. And it's amazing! This is going to be a spoiler review because I can't talk about it without mentioning the developments that happen with the characters.

It's just sooo good! I could've finished it in one sitting, but I started it too late in the day and I got a cold that kept me from reading until today.

I love Danny, Sarah, Doc Impossible, and Valkyrje. Magma wasn't half bad either, but while I severely dislike Chlorophyll I liked the reality his character showed. Chlorophyll shows that even cis gay and lesbian people don't always accept trans people. Danny's parents are both abusive towards her. Her dad was more obvious about it, but her mom was almost worse in my opinion. She bought Danny typical girl things like cute shoes and a bra, but she denied even considering that Danny is trans and called Danny selfish for not wanting to become a boy again. She didn't care about Danny's happiness, she just wanted her son back. Even though her son was always a girl.

I wish someone from Danny's previous life would've stuck around to support her, but neither David or her parent cared enough about Danny to do so.

Sarah is amazing. I hope she get a robot arm that has a wrist gun that just pops out when she snaps her robot fingers. I also hope we learn more about what happened to her dad.

I loved the superhero storyline, but the things that really got to me were how the characters reacted to Danny and her transformation. Greywytch fucking sucks and she should've died instead of Valkyrje. Why did such a horrible person get to live when Valkyrie had to die?!

I can't wait for the next book!
