Well... I had hoped for a bit more story and I am a bit disappointed. You got about 10 pages of bonus story, and 3 or so with a bit of history information, and after that a first look at the Testing. Which is a shame.
I am now still not sure if I should read the Testing or not. For now I am lingering to the no.
It was an interesting story, but also slightly confusing. Still don't understand stuff about the testing or what it means, and I was hoping this story would let me know a bit more.

I did not expect this to be super short. I think 90% of this was the first few chapters of The Testing itself.
Set in Zeen's POV, it shows a glimpse of the aftermath of his graduation. It's a nice little fluff piece for the first novel. Nothing remarkable.

Is it just me or Prequel and Guide are words that help in explaining something's origins and how it first came into existence and the way people are selected? I didn't particularly like Kill Order but it made a better job of explaining about Maze Runner than this would ever do about The Testing process. This is a series I absolutely loved but the so-called 'Guide' in my opinion would do better being renamed as Zeen's Graduation. Atleast we would've known what we were getting into. Maybe we would've had a choice. Then again, The Testing gives no choice to candidates and author, to metaphorically imply that, followed in the same footsteps?

Literally the shortest novella I have ever read. It's only one chapter and then the rest is part of the first book, The Testing. But I did like seeing more of Zeen and hope that the author showcases his character more in the next books, or does a full novella with him.
