CW/TW: rape-culture, non consensual touching, sexual assault

If I could cry I would be. This was… it was pain and beauty, understanding and acceptance. This hurt my heart, for things I too, have suffered and it made me wonder; what would mine be? How much am I putting up with that I shouldn’t have too. Where are my lines? Or have I swallowed my own insects down too many times to realize them.

I’m having a lot of feelings. But, I feel seen none the less.

Edit: probably a spider… makes the most sense.

This story was hard to read, but in a really validating kind of way. I think the imagery that the author chose is very powerful. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

This was a rough read despite its short length. The story is about a young woman growing up and navigating a world where people extrude various creepy crawlies (centipedes, scorpions, moths) when touched in a way that makes them uncomfortable. A look at the ways women are expected to be "accommodating" in all circumstances, even painful or traumatic ones.

CW sexual violence. Very short piece on rape culture. Uncomfortable and sad.
