And Marcus had lost himself, and got to walk home from school with his shoes on.

Will knew then, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Marcus would be OK.

Cheating to add this really as it was a re-read but I needed something lighter after too heavy non-fiction books. I really like Nick Hornby, and this is a great read. He adds so much depth to a character who has no depth to his personality and you can't help but love Marcus. Thought provoking without being heavy, and very funny about a dark subject matter.

Wonderful read that I am glad I went back to as an older reader. The relationship between Marcus and Will developed in a complex and hopeful way throughout the novel. Give the book a go if you enjoyed the movie

A nice, enjoyable read. Not particularly page turning, but a good story all the same.
