A very interesting read, but I still can't believe that he threw away a chance to work for NASA by committing this crime. I can't decide if its just being too smart for your own good, or just plain stupidity.

What an outrageous story! Thad Roberts is a fascinating character with very questionable motives. He is a man who seems to have everything going for him and yet he risks it all for a small payoff. The added appeal for me about this book was the fact that I worked onsite at JSC right around the same time of the heist. Reading the descriptions of the buildings and locations at NASA was like stepping back in time for me. The details of the heist and eventual capture were tight and flowed well. I was also happy to read about Thad's time in prison and how he was able to survive and even thrive once he found an outlet for his time and intellect. Though he was a criminal, it was hard not to root for him.

Very well written, unbelievable in its truth...but wayyyy to much science-talk for me!

This book was a very fun read and Thad is really a bizarre but interesting person. This book is a non-fiction book telling the story of the theft of a quantity of moon rocks from NASA. While it is non-fiction, it is definitely not a journalistic, non-biased telling of the story...it is very much from Thad's kind of amoral POV which has pluses and minuses. It is fun to get inside his head though it is odd since it logic is so completely off-kilter. I would very much have liked to hear from other POV's as well especially the two women who were involved in the heist. I believe that they were both contributors to the book but I don't know how much of their POVs they wanted to share...but this book left me curious about they possibly could have been thinking. The other weird thing is that the book kind of contend that the heist was basically about impressing the girl and the cash was secondary but the time line of events doesn't add up...the plans were in effect long before the girl was in the picture...it is odd because the book keeps repeating Thad's contention that it was about the girl but the argument is made quite weakly...strange to have a book both supporting and undermining the same POV. Anyhow, this was a fun and interesting read and I liked it a lot.

Library loan expired, the real heist planning hadn’t started at this point. I ended up just losing interest anyway.
