4.5 stars! this was really good! there are so many twists at the end, and it kinda takes a turn, but i throughly enjoyed it. in typical kara thomas fashion, it’s a little slow in the beginning, but once the twists start coming they do not stop.

Generally I liked the overall story. However I was not a huge fan of the writers style. Every time I finished a chapter it was like the ending of a soap opera right before a commercial. A hook just to keep you for the next chapter. Normally I dont mind that, but every chapter the desired effect defiantly goes away.

I was a little let down with the ending, most of the book was a huge build up to meeting this one character and the end was just disappointing. I liked the characters, but I didn’t really care about what happened to them

Most of this book was extremely slow getting from plot point to plot point. At about 100 pages left the story took off like a run away train and completely derailed. You can tell the author realized they had 3 storylines to wrap up in not enough pages and none of the conclusions had any previous foundations in the story or made much sense.

The Darkest Corners is an excellent thriller and an excellent debut novel by Kara Thomas. It isn't my first Kara Thomas novel, in fact it's actually my third. But, ever since I read Little Monsters last year, I have been in love with her writing so after reading that and The Cheerleaders I knew that I had to pick this one up to completely my collection and it did not disappoint at all!

I thought Tessa and Callie were both such interesting main characters and I definitely fell for them both! Tessa was such a strong character that completely stole my heart, yes I thought that maybe she should have considered what her leaving did to her best friend but overall, I'm glad that she helped Callie so much through the book and tried to make up for leaving.

Another character I love, love, LOVED was Dekker! He was such a sweet character that cared so much about Tessa and helping her without trying to pursue a romantic relationship which was a great decision by Kara Thomas as I really didn't think this book needed a romance! But he was such a great character and I honestly wish that we had seen more of him because his parents were some of my favourites throughout the whole book!

I will say that I thought some parts in the middle of the book were kind of slow and it kind of made me slow with the reading process because I found bits of it hard to get into but the last 150 pages or so were so full of these shock factor moments and I was totally hooked again. Some of the twists and turns throughout this book were some of my favourite ones that I've ever read. This is definitely my favourite thing about Thomas' writing is that she can write these fantastic shock factor moments and plot twists that just have me so shook and I can't stop thinking about them. Even a year after finishing Little Monsters I still cannot stop thinking about the big twist at the end and I think that'll be the same here because I just couldn't believe it!

Overall, I loved The Darkest Corners and it really solidified the fact that Kara Thomas is my favourite thriller writer and just one of my favourite authors of all time!
