I read this book as part of a book club at work. I was very inspired by all the stories.

I'm a little bit late to the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book series, so bear with me. I had heard of these books and at a book sale I saw this book mixed in the pile so I figured I would give it a try. This book (and other "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books) is a collection of short stories compiled into a book that are true stories written from a variety of different authors with different backgrounds and experiences. In regards to this book, the stories are mostly from people that overcame poor circumstances (physical illness, fires, alcohol/drug abuse, unsafe homes, rape, incest, abusive husband/father, etc.) and still were able to "rise above" it all. Very emotional read. I was only able to take bit sized pieces to finally finish it in a little over a week. Too much "God" and religion embedded in these pages for my taste though. I am still glad I gave it a read though.

I love the stories in this book, reminding us of the goid we're capable of in this country.

Disclosure: I have a story published in this book.

Yes, I have a story included in this book, and yes, I was inspired by the 100 other stories of strength and perseverance.

Read this because I needed to give it a rating for something else. Most of the stories in the first section just felt like promos for the author/singer/whatever their career was—just trying to get their Name out there. So most of the stories felt fake or forced. Just didn’t enjoy the majority of them.

Great stories- a few that I could relate to! I wish my family had more fun traditions and adventures though!
