This book required reading for my After the Bauhaus: Design from the Interwar Period to the Age of Climate Crisis class at uni. Some of the room designs from the Bauhaus period seem SO stimulating. It would be way too much for me. The strangest thing is that they were against needless ornamentation. It just seems so odd. In saying that, I love the capital chairs. They look super cosy.
Overall, this book shines a light on the often forgotten, highly influential architects of modern design in Australia.

The companion volume to the Art Gallery of NSW's Sydney Moderns exhibition, this catalogue contains some insightful, evocative essays and excellent quality reproductions. The artistic milieu covered is conveyed in thankfully none-too-academic prose; there's the sense of individuals living, and of their art growing with their city (and the world).

A great reminder of what was a stand-out exhibition. Worth a read if you have any interest in the movement of Australian artists through modernism to abstract art.
