This book was definitely something. I have to say I definitely laughed a few times. All in all a good book that I'll re-read again in the future

I enjoyed this book. Took me on an interesting journey, giving me a wide range of emotions, from sadness to pity, then anger, intrigue, fear, more anger, relief and then confusion. Not sure if the ending is what I think it is

Really liked this book, though it was pretty predictable.

beautifully written. ✅
unnecessarily long stories. ❌ - the book could have ended at about 200 pages. however, this would be helpful for the movie adaptation. (which i’m so looking forward to seeing).

loved that it took us through the OG 419 story. i also loved the emphasis on education (regardless that things might not turn out as you expect), education is important.

i totally recommend. the author is an intelligent writer!

I fell very easily into this book and thoroughly enjoyed every page. There is a lot that you could unpack about poverty and class, corruption, gender roles, and politics in Nigeria but I feel like the book doesn’t take itself too seriously so you have the option to do a really light read and just go along for the ride, or think more deeply about some of the topics it raises. Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani has a very unique voice which I absolutely adored. Keen to read more by her after finishing this!
