I was worried going into this one because I was so excited for Joseph's story and because I loved Torr's so much. So happy to find out I shouldn't have been worried.

This book jumps back into the normal chaos on earth and with that returns to the different story lines woven together. I don't know if I'm happy with the break we got with Torr's story or if I read this one differently, but the jumping between characters really worked well. I wasn't feeling tossed around and the overall pace of the story continued even when bouncing between stories. I loved how Butcher took the three stories of Joseph and Lyka, Ronan and Justice, and Eric to balance out the story lines while also pushing the plot further.

I also really love the addition of the Slayers. I have so many questions about them and my heart aches for Eric, but it leaves me excited for the next books and how everything will play out.

3.5/5 - a good one, sorry to see the series come to an end with the next book.

Some interesting overarching plot developments in this one. Also some truly yuck moments - poor Eric. I do wish the ending had been less abrupt.

I've wanted to read a Shannon K. Butcher book for a long time.

I went into this book completely blind and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. I devoured the entire book in less than a day and I was sad when I turned the last page.

Joseph and Lyka are a fantastic couple - their chemistry was lovely at the start and it just got better as time went on. Lyka did get on my nerves a tiny bit, but it wasn't enough to take away from the book. I loved Joseph, though. He was by far my favorite of the entire cast - I wish there was more from his perspective, to be honest.

I heartily enjoyed this book and I will certainly be adding more of this series to my collection.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Continues to be a series that interests me. Something about the sex that Butcher writes bothers me, though.
