Promising concept, but there were waay too many characters. There were *ten* (maybe more?) main characters - therefore it was hard to form a connection with any of them, particularly being switched back and forth constantly.

Being so hard to follow took away any enjoyment which could have been gained from the plot. A general lack of suspense also contributed to a mediocre read.

I was so looking forward to reading this book and the first half of it I was hooked but then it all went downhill..... I lost count how many times I had to remind myself who was who ( thankfully there was a list at the front). Like other people have said too characters and not much to like about them..... I just wanted it to end.... when it did I had to read the last part a few times as I was confused.....and still am....huge disappointment:(

I liked this book- but it is totally different than the girl on the train. I liked the mystery aspect involving the river and how everyone is obsessed with it. Some of the story line did suprise me and confuse me due to having many characters' perspectives. Overall, I am happy I finished it.

It's an interesting enough read but it's lack of emotional pay off will leave you wondering if it was worth your time. This book feels like it was being written with the knowledge that it'd some day end up as a movie. In hindsight, I wouldn't bother.

This book was so disappointing. I really enjoyed The Girl on the Train, so my expectations were high. There were too many characters for any of them to feel fully developed and I never felt bought in to anyone’s story. I expected to be caught up in a thriller, but found myself putting the book down more than once during the final climax/resolution.

Winding tale

A mystery with a bit of historical fiction mixed in. Not a gripping as I had hoped, but a decent read.

The novel was somewhat slow, but it kept me interested, as much.

The layout of the story was good, in a sense it felt like a Louisiana deep swamp feel to it, in my opinion.

The characters were solid, and i enjoyed them.

All in all I give 4 ⭐
