I was recommended this book by a friend and was not not disappointed. Very interesting part of history I never learned about in school. A lot of acronyms, but so well researched and fascinating. Author did a great job really painting a picture of these people’s lives and I was impressed with how many of them she interviewed in person.

this book presents a really fascinating history of communist party organizing (and more broad progressive movements) in the american south during the great depression. it’s rather objective in its presentation of the facts which allows the reader to garner what they need from the book.

Enjoyed reading the history of the Communist Party in the South. To bad that racism got in the way of it building into great change for our south and nation. Definitely could use the blueprint for our futures.

I’ll get around to it eventually, but right now I have library books to read.
