I’m conflicted; some of the prose is beautifully written, but I found the
relationship with Alim
both unrealistic and really annoying, with a nihilistic edge. I do think the grief aspect was well-handled.

A gorgeous, steamy, messy, emotional read about love and grief. I loved Feyi’s character, how she’s so straightforward and to the point with everyone she talks to and how she uses her grief to power her art, and I really felt for her with everything that happens/has happened to her in the story. I do wish we got to see more of Joy and had her character be a little more fleshed out, but I understand that’s hard to do when she’s on Facetime for most of the book.

A beautiful look about life after losing the love of your life and how hard it is to find love again. Some great depictions of queer love, messy as it can be. And the diversity of experiance of relationships. Also very adult relationships with adult kids.

Y’ALL THIS IS THE MOST MESSIEST BOOK I’VE EVER READ & THAT SAYS A LOT 💀. I LOVE A GOOD MESSY BOOK BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE. I UNDERSTAND THAT LOVE IS LOVE BUT I WOULDN’T WANT TO WISH THIS TYPE OF MESSY LOVE ON MY OWN ENEMIES 🤦🏾‍♀️. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL WELL WRITTEN BOOK ABOUT FINDING LOVE AFTER DEATH. I’LL ADMIT, I DO NOT LIKE FEYI (ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS) SHE CONTRADICTED HERSELF AFTER SHE GOT CAUGHT FOR HER OWN WRONG DOINGS. IT DIDN’T EVEN SEEM LIKE SHE WAS SORRY ABOUT ANYTHING THAT SHE DID. NASIR HAS EVERY RIGHT TO FEEL ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT HAS TRANSPIRED WITH HIM & FEYI.
