Bless the beautiful day this book was written!

Ok, but really now. If you loved Reactive you're going to fall that much more in love with the characters and twists that Becky has placed in Adaptive. You get to see more of Lune and Bren, but you also get to see more of Ryker (thank goodness)!

This book opens Lune up to the outside world. Where she learns more about herself and her mission than she ever thought was possible. She creates friendships and causes strife in them as well. There are so many more elements that are added to create a new overarching theme that leaves you on the edge of your seat. This book, while similar to Reactive, is different... and man is it worth it. There is more romance, more action, and even more questions that need answers by the end.

This cliffhanger is heart wrenching and I am out sure I will be able to wait very long for the next one. Becky you're torturing us out here! Please read this series! It is so good.

This sequel took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I DID NOT WANT TO GET OFF!!!

This story follows Ryker and Lune as they complete their mission together and follows up after the events of book one.

HOLY.

HELL.

I was not expecting the turn of events that took place nor the secrets revealed in this book which lead to more questions!

If you enjoyed the first book, YOU MUST READ THIS ONE!!

Way better than the first

Okay so in the first novel it was all about the trials, survival, and confusing emotions revolving around how Lune felt around Bren. This book is all about learning what the world used to be and what it has become. Lune was raised in ignorance to how the world is because that’s what Elite Tatum wanted. Keep your citizens ignorant by removing ways to access knowledge and information and that’s how you create power and control.

Everything that I wanted in the first book (how the world operates, what kind of time period they’re in, etc) is all included in this one. Though the romantic feelings and attractions were still there, this book mainly focused on info gathering. Lune starts learning more about the outside world while on her mission from Elite Tatum and in turn, the reader gets a lot more information as well.

I love the introduction of new characters, the nod to pop culture without naming specific movies, and just the character development that Lune had to go through.

Now I’m off to read the sequel since there’s a pesky cliffhanger that needs to be dealt with.

I loved it!

At the beginning, I felt a love triangle coming on and I didn't know how I felt about it. I knew I was going to end up liking Ryker, but unless something drastically horrible happened, I was still going to love Bren. By a quarter way through, I was really liking Ryker even though he was still abrasive. I want to know all the details of what happened between him and Bren! I started questioning everything because Ryker left the clan two years ago, but didn't mention Bren leaving...and Bren was supposedly coming into the trials from the clan...so it started to make me think that Ryker was probably a good guy and Bre had ulterior motives. Once Lune was in the compound and had no memories, I was very wary of Bren for a long time because of the information gained early in this book. Knowing that Bren had escaped with his sister and had been living at the compound put a new spin on things, but I still want to know more about his past with Ryker and what his mission was supposed to be for Renold. Also, WHO ALL IS A TRAITOR?! I for sure thought Yukiko was the one who tried to stab Lune and was going to be the enemy. But now Dr Stacey is in on it and I don't know who all is bad!

As horrific as all of this is with the clan, I am glad that Lune has been reunited with her mom and I'm anxious to learn when her mom was taken by the clan and who Iris's father is. I want to see Ryker and Bren team up and rescue Lune and the other women and then go on to defeat Renold. I know that Ryker feels loyalty toward Renold for taking him in when he left the clan, but I'm hoping that Ryker will come to his sense about how horrible Renold is and join forces with Lune and Bren.

I know that Lune learning about her powers was a huge part of this book, but it didn't feel like the most important to me. Mainly because I'm so invested in finding out about their pasts that I didn't really care that Lune had visions

Another epic book!! After winning the trials but not getting the freedom she had hoped for, lune starts out on a mission with ryker. Getting to know ryker more was fun as was seeing a new side to lune. I loved the new characters and the new settings. The mystery kept me guessing throughout and that cliffhanger!! Going to start the last book now

Holy smokes the tension ratchets up and the story becomes more heartbreaking as secrets are revealed and lies are told

Adaptive is the perfect Bridge between Reactive and the final book in The Elite Trial series. Becky has a way with words that let mould our current world beautiful in with the dystopian world she has created. The relationships forged, explored, and .....well you'll have to just read it to know more.
I'm not going to say the book ended nicely, or perfectly, because..... Well, again, you'll have to read it. 😋

***I've received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review***
Actual rating: 3.5

It was a ride packed full of action and romance. I would have probably enjoyed it more a couple of years ago but nowadays too much romance tends to annoy me in non-romance books. Still, it's a book that's hard to put down and while the first one reminded me of Scorpio Races x Hunger Games, the sequel is more like Shatter Me.

There was a sudden unexpected jump that changed everything about the plot and man, I didn't see that coming at all. I generally really loved the first half but I felt that the plot in the second half was more fragmented and jumping from one place to another which affected my rating. However, it wasn't anything major and it might be just a problem with an ARC.

I can't wait to read the finale!
