I would recommend reading the series in installments with short breaks. I think I may have burned myself out a bit.

Books 1-4 were amazing. 5 stars. Wonderfully original characters. Loved the art. Funny in so many ways. And the jokes are delivered in a way that only graphic novels could (something that is ironically rare in graphic novels).
From book 5 on the plot gets more predictable, before it gets inexplicable. And while I get that magical solutions can be the answers to the characters problems in the fantasy...you can still do this without relying on deus ex machina moment after deus ex machina moment. (At one point Thorn starts flying, something that's never been established was part of her grab bag of magic.)

That said I would still recommend this book to almost anyone.

This book was surprising to me; cute and packed full of adventure. I've never heard of the series before, my friend let me borrow his copy. I'm glad I did. Bone is the perfect mixture between dark and lightheartedness.

The nostalgia on these is deep for me. My sibling and I found the series when our library got a graphic novel section, and we had to know why these weird little white smurfs were in realistic looking fantasy settings.
It ended up being the first graphic novel I ever read, and one of my favorites to this day. An easy recommend for anyone looking to get into graphic novels, whether you're a kid or an adult.
Just be prepared, because you will be very tempted to power read through it and finish the series in one sitting.
