One of the most interesting books I have read in a while. I loved the romance between the main characters because it didn’t feel rush and unnatural. The world building was fascinating and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Not feeling this. Might have to retry again someday.
I'm not even going to say I've DNFd this because I feel like it was doomed from the start.
It's not a bad book and the writing is nice, but you're catapulted into the story right in the middle of action, and for chapters you have no idea who's who and what's going on. I'm too exhausted by real life to engage with a book so challenging, right now.

This book drops you right in the middle of the action so I had to read a bit slower to get my bearings. It took me a few chapters before I finally got a grasp on things and what was happening. Once our characters and setting were clear I opened myself up more to the story itself.
As the blurb states, this is a slow burn romance. Nothing about it is in your face and I think that makes the character development more enjoyable.
This is a true high fantasy. I've yet to come across a high fantasy worth reading by an indie author and Ronan knocks it out of the park with A Deadly Vow. Keahi is undoubtedly my favorite character in this series. While he is still deadly and fierce, it was his softer side that got to me. This is a character I don't read often and he was executed perfectly.
The twist at the end is what really did it for me, learning more about Sabine was fascinating and badass. I cannot get my hands on the next book fast enough.

I do not remember how I came about this book or why it was on my kindle, but omg am I so glad that it was. This has easily made it into my top favorite list of fantasy books and it’s only book one. I can’t get over this. I was confused for a while, (still kinda am, but that’s fantasy books right lol) but the story that I know and still wanting to find out more is so amazing. It’s interesting and mind consuming and I love these characters with all my heart. I’m excited to start on another series journey.

I really wanted to be OBSSESSED with this book. But it’s just good.
Like the artwork made me spend a small fortune getting this from the USA and shipped to Australia and yet I am unsure if it was worth the investment.
It felt like we were foreshadowing so many plot points that the story you were actually reading had some plot holes that you would just slip and fall into. and it would always be exactly as you just found your groove in the book.
I did laugh at some of the comedic moments (shout out to the broom closet) and I wanted the tension to finally go somewhere because the slow burn was slow burning but every time you were about to get some pay off you were just edged instead.
Still going to read book 2, and I’m hoping that will have found its way a bit better.
