I won't say a lot about this book because I think you should stop reading my review right now and go read it. But I will say that it's a rare book that has you wiping away tears at the end because it is just so beautiful in a touching and sweet way. It's one of those hybrid young adult/adult books and a quick read, but my hope is that like me, you'll fall in love with the characters and bask in the post-reading glow of this book.

The last page increased this from a 3 to a 3.5. Solid read. Not life-changing.

Held back on 4 stars because of the ending. Not sure how I fell about it, but mostly I don't like it. Aside from that...this book is fabulous. The characters are great and I love any story that takes place in the 1980's.

I read this a few years ago, such a precious story of young love, one of the only times I've ever enjoyed an ambiguous ending.

I was very scared to read this book. At least three people had recommended it to me and the overall hype was huge so I had know idea if I was gonna like it or not. I've read almost all of Rainbows books and short stories and have loved all of them. But I think my rating for this one speaks for itself. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this but not as much as Rainbows other books.

Something that I have admired about Rainbow Rowell's books is that she doesn't write cheesy romance. All of them have been enjoyable and realistic and in the beginning so was this but then it just went downhill. The romance is the main reason for my rating. I also found Eleanor's character very annoying at times. I understood her and where she was coming from but I think she was too stubborn.

What I did like were the themes in this book. This book addresses body-shaming, bullying, abuse, violence and slut-shaming. All of them were addressed as issues that are not okay which is the truth. Eleanor being an overweight girl and getting bullied for it was a big issue in this book and the fact that similar things are still going on today is not okay at all. Rainbow showed that you shouldn't judge a person by their appearance which is something a lot of people still do to this day.

This is a very important book.
