Claudio has fallen in love with Hero, but there's a plot underfoot to prevent their marriage. Benedick and Beatrice hate each other, and like nothing better than throwing spiteful witticisms at each other, so of course there's a plan to matchmake them. It's frivolous, but with a whole lot of fun, and Shakespeare's convoluted plot schemes and genius wordplays star.
