An excellent compilation of Asimov’s stories on robots. It starts with amusing, but antiquated vignettes about robot cars and other novelties before progressing to the meat of the stories - humanoid robots. Once it turns that page, the book gets significantly more interesting. It explores the morality, complexity, legal challenges, and more of humanoid robots and finishes with one of the best short stories I’ve ever read in The Bicentennial Man. Overall, it is an anthology and reads as such, and I found many of the short stories to be of average quality and interest. But the ones that were engaging, or which prompted moral or philosophical questions, were well worth the price of admission. The final short story feels like a culmination of everything that came before it and ends the book on a bittersweet and satisfying note.

Kurzgeschichtensammlung. Spektrum von "dumm" bis "OMG zomg wow", alles dabei. Ein paar davon sollte jeder lesen. Ein paar davon sollte niemand lesen müssen.

A few thoughts on some of the stories -

A Boys Best Friend - not much to it but boy would I like a robomutt!
Sally - I'm all about revenge of the auto cars
Someday - aw no that one was sad, poor Bard bot - I'll adopt you
Robot AL-76 Goes Astray - my fav one so far, love a bot that's this adaptable
Victory Unintentional - a small twist and turn of events, such a short story thing to do
Let's Get Together - a satisfying succinct experiment of thought
Mirror Image - as above!
Satisfaction Guaranteed - favourite so far, stakes, tenderness, science meets the home
Gallery Slave - love it, a satisfying twist and deeply analytical perspective
Escape! - a great dilemma
Bicentennial Man - what is humanity, what constitutes a being & their emotions. A great story of bodily autonomy, but i do get frustrated at the whole 'humans are superior'

Sin palabras. Los relatos de este libro estuvieron geniales y los personajes estuvieron a la altura. Muy recomendable para conocer más de Asimov y de su obra.

Short and quaint 1950's-y stories. Those stories where the word "atomic" is used reverently and holy shit that's so futuristic because it is atomic.

Some stories are incredibly boring. Some great. Most follow the format of:
1) There is a robot.
2) He does something unexpected.
3) Why the hell did he do that?
4) Susan Calvin figures it out.
5) It all makes sense now.
6) The end.
