REALLY slow paced for the front of the book, but once it starts to take off it gets pretty interesting. I really enjoyed all the chapters with the Taken, which I thought were great story-movers. There is a reveal near the end of the book that feels more proud of itself than it should be, but I didnt feel it detracted from the story.
However, Cook's depiction of the explicitly non-white characters is fucked up and demeaning.
