Wow we got into it- no stone left unturned! I did like the exploration into everyone’s thoughts, changing narrators often. I’m so glad
Casey took care of the evil professor
and I loved following this family along many years.

I loved this book so much. It will definitely resonate with anyone who's been raised between two cultures, never really belonging to one or the other. Casey is such a strong and opinionated person that, even though I think she made some bad decisions along the way, I was always rooting for her.

I am thrilled to hear that Pachinko's been optioned for a movie. I hope this book will be too!

Insightful and touching, but kind of felt like listening to that one friend tell a story but they get stuck on tangents that you don't care about so you have to smile and pretend like you wouldn't rather be anywhere else and then your face hurts because you're smiling too much so you get so preoccupied by that and miss the important parts of the story.

I enjoyed the first 250 pages or so, getting a really detailed insight into these characters and their world. But the conflict became repetitive - almost everyone in this book cheats on each other -
and what happens to Leah feels so cruel and mean-spirited on the part of the author that I would have put the book down if I hadn't already read so much of it.

Another good offering from the author of Pachinko, albeit not quite as engrossing and a little overly long, but good insight into the Korean American community. some nice touches - the clothing and hat descriptions.
