I loved this book! It was so very mysterious and entertaining! I found myself constantly surprised by the twists and turns the storyline took! Enola has astounded me yet again!

This was even better than the first two books in this series. While they are supposedly children's books, a word of caution: the atmosphere of Victorian London is quite dark, as Ms. Holmes likes to spend her nights when she's not solving a mystery and evading her well-meaning brothers, (Sherlock and Mycroft) by handing out food, money, and blankets to the poor. And they are very poor - disturbingly so. It would be mild in a regular novel, but I'd wait until your children are at least 11 and you've had a harsh talk about how much better life it today (in some countries) before you hand this book to your kids.
That said, the characterization just gets better, and even though the (much younger than her famous brothers) protagonist doesn't spend much time with them, she characterizes them nicely with supposition, her knowledge of their shared mother, and what she knows of then reading Dr. watsons stories. The fact that each book is a mini-lesson in codebreaking is just a bonus.

A delightful quick read, in keeping with the tone of the previous 2 books. If you liked the first 2, you will like this book.

While the action and writing was enjoyable in this book, unfortunately it relied on tired, ableist tropes, which was very disappointing. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars.
