A hell of a kick-off to what promises to be an exciting trilogy. Fast-paced, and taut with suspense, the story presents us with a wholly original monster, and immerses us in Polynesian folklore (which has been sorely underrepresented in horror fiction). Add in engaging characters, crisp prose, and a healthy dose of gore that keep the pages turning. Kudos, ladies, for a well-told tale and a damn fun, creepy ride! Very much looking forward to the next book!
