I’m torn about my review of this novella. I actually almost DNFed a couple of chapters in because I was hating the writing style (and the first person point of view! UHG!!) but it just seemed silly to do that when there’s less than 200 pages. I’m glad I decided to keep going, though. Once our two leading ladies actually got together, it got a better. I still don’t love the writing or the perspective, but there was a lot of heart in the story, plus a LOT of spice (with an emphasis on consent!) for such a short story. I also appreciated the neurodivergent rep - both ADHD and autism. I very much related to Clara’s ADHD thought process that lead to baking instead of making dinner lol If you need a quick read, it’s worth picking up.

What a sweet (and spicy) Christmas novella! This short story is well developed and very satisfying. You will feel immersed in the plot and rooting for these two sweet friends- Clara and Evan. The only thing that would’ve made this friends to lovers x fake dating story better was if we got more of a chance in the beginning to see how deep their friendship was. It felt like it needed to be explained throughout rather than be part of setting the stage. Honorable mention to Clara’s awesome and supportive parents! I recommend this for anyone looking for a solid Christmas novella.

Christmas time can be very hard for a lot of people. Especially those who have been excommunicated from their families.
Childhood friends Evan and Clara have reunited near the holidays when Clara starts her dream job at a photography gallery.
Evan's fiancèe cheated and left her, moving on with another teacher at their school. After Clara accidentally tells her new colleagues that she was seeing her girlfriend to two decide to fake date.

This was sweet and steamy. It does have a sexuality awakening but as a novella there isn't much questioning in this.

It was cute.

It's a sapphic Christmas novella. Despite being only 142 pages, it took me a week to finish because it lacked interest. It didn't offer anything special or new.
