I’m torn about my review of this novella. I actually almost DNFed a couple of chapters in because I was hating the writing style (and the first person point of view! UHG!!) but it just seemed silly to do that when there’s less than 200 pages. I’m glad I decided to keep going, though. Once our two leading ladies actually got together, it got a better. I still don’t love the writing or the perspective, but there was a lot of heart in the story, plus a LOT of spice (with an emphasis on consent!) for such a short story. I also appreciated the neurodivergent rep - both ADHD and autism. I very much related to Clara’s ADHD thought process that lead to baking instead of making dinner lol If you need a quick read, it’s worth picking up.

What a sweet (and spicy) Christmas novella! This short story is well developed and very satisfying. You will feel immersed in the plot and rooting for these two sweet friends- Clara and Evan. The only thing that would’ve made this friends to lovers x fake dating story better was if we got more of a chance in the beginning to see how deep their friendship was. It felt like it needed to be explained throughout rather than be part of setting the stage. Honorable mention to Clara’s awesome and supportive parents! I recommend this for anyone looking for a solid Christmas novella.

This was a cozy and heart-warming sapphic Christmas novella. A childhood-friends-to-lovers meets fake dating set-up, with some added small-town adventures. I was initially anxious about the premise for fake dating, but was glad Clara was honest at the right moment and that this continued to be a low-conflict story throughout. Features bi-awakening and a top-tier epilogue.

demi rep is my fave kinda rep.

i loved this cute little winter novella. friends to lovers for a novella is HARD, but HBY did a great job at giving little moments of their friendship throughout the novella so their natural progression to romantic made sense and felt organic. I loved both women, they had their own desires and fears and stories. I loved how much HBY was able to cover in such a short period of time. The pacing was a little wonky at the end - everything felt rushed for no reason. As someone who literally lived (most of) this story, I adored seeing it written and watching it from a bird's eye lens.
