Dear American authors/screenwriters, please stop re-writing 'The Odyssey' but making it a thinly-veiled allegory for life, or repentance, or both. This variant gains some points for going the extra mile to be surreal, and for having some genuinely funny dialogue. It has a heart though it's a bit meat-headed in places; my psychic powers tell me that the author thought the Hangover movies were really funny and that they had posters of Leaving Las Vegas and/or American Psycho on their college dorm walls. All the same - and despite my cynicism - I did enjoy it as a quick, light read.

So weird. So deeply weird. But so confidently weird. Just as Ben has to trust the path and keep on going, I had to trust the author and keep on reading. And I really enjoyed the ending, which I had difficulty imagining could work in any satisfying way after the weirdness. But it did. So weird. I would never have picked it up for myself without the book group prompt, but I'm really glad I did.

Me when I question religion for the third time this summer (the other two being hoziers new album and the other being the Barbie movie)

I picked this up because it had the vibes of Gravity Falls and Over the Garden Wall

I stalled out on this about midway though Part II, and was ready to mark it as abandoned. However, reading some of the other reviews on the site, I plan to pick it back up at a later date. Review TBD.

I finished it and it was good!
