A cute, simple little story! Like with the first, it chooses its battles and is only trying to do a few things, but I think it does those things well. Without the theme of motherhood, this one feels a little less unique than the first one, but it has more emotional weight and is more enjoyable to read. Kaeldra is alone except for dragon babies for a long long time in the first book, and it creates a unique atmosphere and theme, but in my opinion it left it feeling a little empty. The side characters in this book are lovely, and even the romance is sweeter and feels more natural.
SpoilerSide note, Kazan at one point is ready to commit regicide for Kara and I love that for him lmao.
