Though i'm not the targeted audience for this book, I still found it entertaining. It would be the perfect read for a middle schooler looking for something creepy to read for spooly season.

The living doll trope is my favorite! I also like witches; so this book was definitely my kind of thing.  An impulse buy at Walmart, the cover was the first thing that caught my eye. As an adult reader, the writing style was of course very childish to me, wasn't scary, and honestly not that great objectively, but I really liked the plot! I didn't expect the writing to be amazing or particularly unique considering it's a middle-grade book. I definitely would recommend it to someone of a younger audience, and for older people, you'll probably like it if you're into the creepy/living doll trope. But beware if you have a real fear of dolls!!

Hundreds and hundreds of dolls. I couldn’t see their faces, though. Because every doll was facing the wall. Every. Single. One.

I love a creepy doll story. There was some fuzzy logic at the end (Josie is able to defeat Beryl a little too easily, I thought), and I didn't think there was enough resolution regarding Josie's angst about moving away from Chicago. But overall, an enjoyable spooky story.

For the age group it’s made for, this was a good scary book! It has its moments that make you go 🤔 but for the most part it’s enjoyable! This was another VRC book for me!
