This book started off really strongly and I was intrigued, but then it quickly fell apart. I liked the flashbacks to China and Hongmei’s backstory. The other subplot, with the secret admirer, quickly felt uncomfortable and unbelievable. I thought the “twist” was also pretty unbelievable, that the characters wouldn’t have discovered it on their own. Just not the book for me, but I hope others enjoy it.
