stormagedon's review against another edition
I found the plot to be predictable and was no longer invested in the character arcs and hwo the story would resolve. I read all I needed to to get the point.

This was a reread for me. I wanted to work through Stevens' backlog officially on Storygraph, not sure why but I needed it 😂 Anyway, this is the first "fun" read I read after finishing my master's degree and I flew through it in less than 24 hours. I couldn't put it down. It restarted my reading for fun instead of school and has always stuck with me.
You follow 3 sisters as they are abused at home, run away, and are abused by strangers, then start a new life in a new city. It's a book that requires you to check the trigger warnings first but it's such a good read. The writing is engaging and the story is paced beautifully. One of my favorite Chevy books for sure. It doesn't have a traditional Chevy twist but I don't think it needed it, the story is the story.
Its a challenging reread because I found myself waiting for the rougher parts and putting the book down to avoid them a little longer but the story still pulled me in and I read the entire thing in about 4 sittings. It was a great way to finish out January 2024.
