I'm really sad that I didn't really like this series. I was really engaged with this last book, but I found that my problems lie within the main character. I actually don't really like Binti, and I thought this all the books, but particularly this one, have a YA trope quality to them that I really don't like. I just felt like Binti annoyed me sometimes, and I felt like a lot of things from the previous books were mentioned in a repetitive way, when the reader will probably remember those things.

I still loved the world though, and the imagery was amazing, but Binti's character really got on my nerves.

The was my favorite of the Binti trilogy! I suppose it’s the book where it all comes together but even still. It was the longest and I felt like I knew Binti better and the Himba people and how they relate to others around them. Very timely commentary on war and how there are disputes no one can even remember why they are fighting they just believe the stories and hate passed down generation to generation. I was a little surprised in parts - a few twists and I wasn’t sure how it would be resolved, if at all. Okorafor has made an incredible world with so much detail. I want the Binti movie!!

Just, wow! What a stunning series and beautiful close to the trilogy. I am in awe of how carefully and intricately woven this story was, and it inspires me to find hope where it feels impossible. Thank you Nnedi Okorafor!

A pretty good conclusion to the series, although I felt like I called the twists about
the deaths of Binti's family not being real, as well as her own death not being permanent
from a mile away. Not bad, necessarily, but then it just didn't feel very high stakes. That being said, while I usually find the final book in a series to be unsatisfying, The Night Masquerade offered me a satisfying conclusion to this trilogy, so I still say that I liked it.
