There’s very little moral or theme to this story beyond revenge. Anyone who says that it is a great love story between Heathcliff and Catherine must be deluded or only know toxic relationships. If anything Edgar loves Catherine better and is more devoted as to give up his desires for hers.
The books seems to drag on and on, especially since the reader has already been told what is going to happen in the second half from the first few chapters of Lockwood visiting Heathcliff.
Graphic: Panic attacks/disorders and Toxic relationship
Moderate: Sexual assault and Xenophobia

Personally I prefer to read books where I like or enjoy the main characters so honestly it wouldn’t be my go to pick. However once I got past that I found it was actually a really easy/ captivating read once I acknowledged (not a major plot spoiler)
Despite the slow moving plot I felt compelled to finish it, at least just because I wanted to see if
3.5 stars because it wasn’t a bad story

This is a Gothic Romance novel that takes place in the moors that follows a sort of star-crossed romance between Catherine and Heathcliffe.
I really liked the writing of this. It was really descriptive and gorgeous. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the book.
I also loved the setting. Misty, foggy, chilly moors? Please and thank you. I love Gothic novels for so many reason, but the setting is almost always one of my favorite things.
The plot was fine. Nothing spectacular. And it had some elements I really didn't like.
Finally, the characters. I didn't like most of them a lot of the time. Some were interesting at times, but overall I wasn't a huge fan of them.
Overall, I'm glad I finally read this, but it wasn't my favorite.

Minor: Sexual assault
