Slow burn with awful characters and lots of passages which ended up being completely irrelevant, but such a dark and unique read with a surprising plot

I might come back to my rating for this.
I also might not.
It feels like it'll stick in my head a while. Like a bad dream.

It's a really well written book. The characters are all insufferable. One wants to randomly
rape
his friend. Another has surprise
incest
. Then characters felt 2D with their problematic behavior.
The book should have been half as long as it is.
Also, while I usually love when authors read their own books... this is pretty badly done. Bunny's accent was painful.

It felt like a book that wanted to teach us something, but wasn't quite able to make it there. The only character I liked was the token woman. Because someone has to exist to be
abused

But again, really pretty prose.

A riveting tale of dark academia, and murder, with an inquiry into the idea of ethics. Dark and mysterious, it follows the lives of 6 university students studying Greek literature, pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in search of a loftier goal, until it all descends into evil. The writing is thoroughly engrossing, filled with references to literatures and texts from around the world. Utterly memorable.
