I haven't been able to finish this book. Every time a kid sees me reading it, they ask if they can check it out; and, being the good librarian I am, I let them. So, I've read a few chapters over lunch, then a couple weeks pass...then another one or two, and a couple weeks pass. Then I took it home for the weekend...and my sons saw it and took it from me. They both read it in a day (they are eight) and so got it back Sunday night. I read a few more chapters that night but a student was it when I returned to school...and that's as far as I have gotten.

I have really enjoyed what I have read so far...buy I may never get a chance to finish it, so I thought I'd write a review...just in case.

My 10 year old daughter loved this book. Misfits, magic, and humor.

I love this book, it's about a little girl who has wonky magic, and I think that it tells that it's ok to be different. And if anyone thinks different is bad they should read this book

Read this with my K/1 class for the positive messaging, diverse characters, and fun magic. The story was actually pretty boring! But they loved it, couldn’t believe we always had to “stop at the best part,” and wanted me to save the last chapter for the last day of school. Reading that chapter was the last thing we did together as a class at the end of this upside-down magical year together.

I bought my daughter this series and she refused to read the second one until I read the first one.

For a children’s book it is great! My 11 year old might be a bit older for it but she loves cats and magic so there’s that.
