Would recommend reading the book “attached” before this. A much more positive look at love addiction is found in attached, like a totally different perspective that I appreciated a lot more than this book’s portrayal of what is essentially anxious attachment.

A very powerful and life changing book. I mean this book really changed by life and has been crucial in saving it as well. It’s the kind of book you had to keep revisiting. There is so much information. The most important thing for me is to remember that I am a Love Addict, because of my childhood trauma, I have accumulated feelings of low self-esteem, abandonment, and worthlessness, and I need to keep returning to what it means to have a healthy relationship, and protect myself from comrades and community members who are incapable of having mature relationships, because they do not know themselves well and do not have good boundaries.

I was let down. This is a very interesting and complex topic, but the author provided only a superficial analysis. Writing style was sophomoric. Presentation of ideas was messy and convoluted. Very little outside documentation or support was offered, and the few examples provided appeared to be fictional composites, not actual case studies.
