I was hesitant to start this because I go in blind, but I knew *enough* to know it's serial killers. I'm always wary when there's a lot of hype about a book as the last few overly hyped books I really didn't like.

That being said, Slone and Rowan are perfect. This story was perfect. I just can't get over how perfect it is given it's basically Dexter in love. As a Forensics major I really enjoyed all the gory parts because gore never really got to me and it's hard to find gore without horror (not that big into horror).

Oh, and the spice! THE SPICE! The book really did a good job of balancing the humor (accidental cannibalism, hiding the engagement ring in the eye socket, dragon furry cosplay, etc) with the actual story along with the spice was just *~chefs kiss~* I was sweating and figiting a few times while reading this and my husband really appreciated me reading this book lol

I'm so effing excited that Lachlan and Fionn are going to be getting their own books and Lark and Rose will be getting their HAE.

The way this book laid the groundwork for the following 2 books and how *fecking* beautiful these covers are, I really just cannot get enough nor can I wait for the next ones to come.

A chance encounter between two serial killers leads to an annual competition that pits them against some of the country's most dangerous monsters. As they hunt, they develop a friendship that leads to deeper feeling than either of them thought possible.

If you enjoyed Dexter, you will probably enjoy this book.

How Weaver made a book about serial killers funny, is beyond me! But the banter and comedy in this story were top notch. There were so many laugh out loud moments. I found that there was a really good balance between the romance and suspense.

I liked how this was a slower burn. They meet

If you ignore the trigger warnings, that on you… cause they aren’t satire.

This was surprisingly a good read. I mean it was out there, with serial killing serial killers falling in love. But it followed the normal contemporary romance formulas. The flirty banter was good. The tongue in cheek silliness was really what made this story stand out. It’s a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and I appreciate that.

I find it interesting how actual little we know about the pasts of the main characters. We got brief overviews, and the internal dialogue just lets us assume their histories or “SK origin stories” were bad, and moves on. I don’t know if that is enough for such defined characters or not. It was a little flippant, like an offhand remark, only it was both characters “why”.

Other than that, this was a great funny, messed up, dark romcom. The similarities to the show “Dexter” is obvious.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Thank you NetGally anx Zando for an Advanced eReader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Black humor, gore, angsty romance and intense smut. My creepy heart loved this. 🖤

Please read the content warnings before reading!

This story is not for the squeamish.  That being said, I died laughing from the very beginning of the content warnings.

I listed to the audiobook to and from work and I definitely think that’s the best way to be immersed in the story.  The voice actors were amazing and really helped me envision the characters.

This was the funniest yet most disgusting book I've ever read.  I absolutely cannot wait for the other Kane brothers' stories.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ This book is the best kind of fever dream. If you can, listen to the audiobook because the narration style just completely makes the banter seem like BANTER you would think it was recorded from actual recollection not just script reading. The triggers are real so be warned, but if you’re not squeamish it’s definitely worth it.

Never have I been so invested in and rooting for serial killers [besides my Dexter phase I suppose]. The adventures of Man-guy and Peaches made me laugh until I snorted, and somehow the gore didn't gross me out. I think the humor balanced that out. But I will never have cookies and cream ice cream again. Yikes on so many bikes!
