At times difficult to understand and quite dense, but overall I really enjoyed Rousseau’s writing style! He’s got such an interesting political theory too

Rousseau might well indeed be controversial but his brilliance in this document is highly evident. The contextualization of this piece in wake of the revolution is remarkable and informative. The insight and intellectual adventure that Rousseau takes the reader on is introspective and profoundly philosophical.

Interesting, important, but perhaps not near enough to the standard of logic and fact in today's political discourse.

Who puts an entire summary of history and of the itself work into an introduction as long as the actual text? As all white male philosophers do, he has certain excellent ideas which are mostly clouded by his worldview. Clearly more of a writer than a philosopher and his wording takes away from the statements

A unique perspective on human progression - or in the eyes of Rousseau, a lack of it.
