Sweet, lovely story

Oh gosh, I just adored this book. I read it for the MM romance aspect and ended up reading about unconditional love between a parent and child, and even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, I’m still so glad I read it. I especially loved how, at the beginning of the end, Oenyn came up with a solution to his predicament but even with that in place, there were still kinks that needed to be worked out, which is exactly how real life works. Madfall’s character development was really fun to witness, too. Excited to read more from this author!

A huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I did not mean to finish this book tonight. I meant to read a bit before sleep. It’s now 3:40am and I am bursting with feelings over this book.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH AND MADFALL IS THE BEST DRAGON EVER

Madfall is a dragon and dragons care only about one thing - their hoard. So when he steals a basket that was supposed to have gold in it but instead had a baby - of course he wanted to get rid of it! Or maybe ransom it. He won't get attached because dragons don't get attached to humans. They don't.

Oenyn is human. And also dragon. After all, his father is a dragon - and he says it doesn't matter whose skin you wear. He loves his life with his father (and his goat, and his bunnies), but he is also curious about humans.

Richard is a squire who, in an effort to try and prove himself to his father and the knights who trained him, accepted the king's mission to find and slay the dragon that's been plaguing their kingdom and bring back the dragon's heart.

Hilarity ensues.

This book was just so much fun. It's light, fluffy and it made me laugh out loud. The only thing that bothered me a little is the use of contemporary phrases (like "You're on") in a world that's supposed to be medieval fantasy, but it didn't distract me from the story too much, because I just had so much fun reading it.

A sweet and enjoyable (very short) novel with some enjoyable dialogue. The characters are about as harmless as you can get these days. Recommended if you need a mood pick-me-up or something for a wet afternoon.

I read this book twice in less than a year and am already excited to read it again. This is such a cute read about a dragon that tries his hardest to be a good parent to the child he accidentally kidnapped. The romance between the knight who came to “save him” and the dragon’s son is absolutely adorable! The dynamic between the dragon and his son is also so sweet. This book shows the POV of all three of these characters and you can really tell when the POV changes by the way it’s written.

Y'all, this is just too cute. Imagine a dragon accidentally absconding with a baby, falling for said baby, raising him to adulthood, and having to figure out the whole human/dragon thing. Then imagine a baby knight coming to kill said dragon, only to be confronted by the now-grown baby who is pretty handy with a sword.

It's pretty predictable, but that's half the charm. It's just flat out adorable, while still being an entertaining read. It's got a romance, but it isn't really a romance - the focus of the story is more on the relationship between the dragon and his son, and how the son negotiates his human heritage with his dragon upbringing.

Nice short about monsters aren't neccessarily monsters if you're just willing to change your perspective and about the things that make a family. It's really more about those things than the romance and I liked that a lot. Not that I didn't like the characters involved in the romance but it was nice that the story was about more than just that. It was sweet and full of feeling but also really hilarious at times. A very nice short story!
