I feel like none of the characters had any real development even though that's what the entire book was just character arcs. Everything was so predictable: brothers fighting over a girl, an absent dad (who they kinda forgive at the end??), a pushover realizing she shouldn't be a pushover. I also didn't feel like the atmosphere was there; I wasn't a fan of two pages of one setting and perspective and the jumping to a different place with all new characters. Overall, I wasn't a fan but I still have hope for other Taylor Jenkins Reid books.

Loved this so much. Ties together with Daisy Jones and with Evelyn Hugo a little bit. Fun. Addictive read.

What a great book! Taylor Jenkins Reid has a great way of creating characters that feel so real, and giving them emotions that hit you in a real way. Malibu Rising was no different. I loved all of the family dynamics, I loved the fast moving plot, and most especially I just loved the way every character felt totally fleshed out and real. Definitely a five star read.
