I love this book. I read it as a teenager and enjoyed it, but then I read it as an adult and was absolutely floored by it. Completely absorbing, strangely realistic for a novel written in the 1920's about the 1300's, and (to this reader at least, as a wife and a mother) hauntingly relatable. Worth rereading at every stage of life, I'd think.
Graphic: Adult/minor relationship, Blood, Death, Gore, Grief, Toxic relationship, Violence, Death of parent, and Child death
Moderate: Animal death, Alcoholism, Medical content, and Physical abuse
Minor: Miscarriage
