I grew up looking through my dads old French editions of these books, and so now I’m hunting them down in English so I can actually understand them. This was so much fun; it was so nice to see characters I grew up with alongside text I can actually read. Can’t wait to get to the rest of them (if a tad out of order)

These book are really funny. They are short enough to read in one sitting, and can be used as a nice divertissement on a rainy morning.

Synopsis:
The druid of the village breaks his golden sickle and Asterix and Obelix head out to purchase him another one. Things turn out to be a lot more complicated in the end though, and a hilarious adventure ensues.

The second album in the Asterix series, with Asterix and Obelix setting out to find Obelix's cousin Amerix and source a golden sickle for Panoramix. It's nice to see more characters outside of Asterix get developed as well as the wider scope of the adventure compared to the first, and it's definitely an improvement in how thought-through the plot feels by comparison. I feel like the art got a big bump up in quality too.

Definitely finding these easier to read as I go along, I find myself reaching for my dictionary less and less as I go.
