I wouldn't categorize as "romance" which makes it more appealing to me- historical based account of Josephine, her life, imprisonment, marriage, children, love, friendships, and courtship with Napoleon. Which was interesting, being the type of man that he was- was curious how they ended up together. Much enjoyed!

What an interesting book. Wow. I really want to learn more about about Josephine and now the French Revolution after reading this.

This was such a wild ride. I can't believe how invested I ended up in the story. Rose (it feels weird to call her Josephine now after reading this book!) goes through so much, I can hardly believe this is only the first book in the trilogy. She lives through so many hardships I just want to help her!

I was originally put off by the diary-entry style but it worked very well here. The characters were all formed so well through her entries that I feel like I know them myself.

The little slips of voodoo and similar type fortune telling throughout were so cool too! I'm not sure if they're real but I loved it.
