A fiercely feminist romance novel that grapples with the complexities of the metoo movement and the realities of domestic abuse. Adams made things hard for herself with this one but managed to pull it off well. Honestly this bromance book club series is just so damn satisfying. These men and the women they fall for are such nicely drawn characters, devoid from reality perhaps but we can all dream (and that is what romance novels let us do).

I think I liked this one even more than the first! Strong FMC, enemies to lovers (on her part) and alpha hero/protector on his part. He absolutely falls first and it’s hilarious. This is such a fun series with the rolls reversed. Grumpy/ sunshine.

3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed this more than the first book in the series, but it started to drag on for me a bit. I also could have done without the third act breakup. I’ll still probably continue to read the series, I think they are good palate cleansers for me!

Undercover Bromance • by Lyssa Kay Adams
Book #2 in The Bromance Book Club series follows the stories of Liv and Mack as they discover themselves and each other. ❤️

What I loved:
•Despite the heaviness of the subplot, the characters are hilarious. I caught myself laughing out loud.
•The ladies in this book are awesome. I loved the addition of Rosie (and Hop) and the unconditional love she gives Liv.
•The boys in the book club have a great friendship and support one another. They are also so genuine and truly rooting for the women in their life. You can’t help but love them.

What I didn’t love:
•The sexual assault storyline was a little too heavy to be mixed with the lighthearted and fun characters.
•I wish the romances and relationships were a little more developed.
•I was hoping for way more Thea and Gavin love.

Wait, this was actually really good?? I liked how the enemies-to-lovers worked in this story and I feel like this was one of the first times I've read a romantic story and not thought that one of the main people was way better/more interesting/too good than the other in the couple. I actually was rooting for Mack and Liv the whole time. I also really liked the sexual assault plot line, at least in terms of perhaps male readers seeing how it's important for them to stand up in support of ANY woman who says she's being harassed. Of course it's never as easy in real life as it is in this book for survivors to come forward and confront their attacker, and therefore I'm not sure how a survivor of sexual assault might view how this plot line was handled, but in terms of this being a "light and easy romance" I thought it did an okay job.

I listened to the audiobook for this one, and again, the narrator (same as #1 in the series) did the most annoying voices for the women characters, but it was still a good and QUICK listen (seriously, he talks so slowly, it was still comfortable to listen at 1.75 speed as someone who rarely listens to audiobooks).

These books are fun, honestly. I think I liked the last one slightly more (or, liked the characters more), but this book was still enjoyable. I really like the men in these books... men are just so much better when written by women, haha.

Frankly, I think this book is best summed up by it's own quote: "I loved those stories. [...] I loved them because good people always won in those books. Men were always heroic, and if they weren’t, they got what was coming to them. Always.”
