“We’re all a little broken. We are a mosaic. We’re made up of all those we’ve met and all the things we’ve been through. There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful. And I love every piece of you. Even the ones you wish didn’t exist.”

I really thought that this would end up being better than Part of Your World, based on the first 50%. Alas, that was not the case here. I really appreciate the personal touch that this book had, and the author's note that went with it. I really liked the main characters, Jacob and Briana. The struggles that they dealt with felt very realistic: the anxiety representation and the struggles that people feel when dealing with a chronic illness was portrayed very well. These elements of the book, along with the letter writing and the relationship development, were some of the reasons that I was expecting this book to be better.

Now, onto what I didn't like...
Because of the dual POV, we clearly knew that the two characters liked each other. There was so much miscommunication in this book (it dragged on a little too long for my liking), and it all could have been resolved so easily. They could have talked it out much sooner than they actually did. Jacob literally asked her out! And he got rejected because of a misunderstanding that Briana had when she saw him earlier!  They literally moved in together; she heard so many people saying that they were in love and once all of this got resolved, she conjured up another stupid third act conflict days before his kidney transplant! It made me mad - because I knew it was gonna be resolved within the next 30 or so pages anyways. I also thought the letters would have a bigger role to play in the story as well, but that kind of fizzled out about halfway through, and then made a sort of reappearance at the end when she read his journal.

Overall, this book had a cute first half, and a disappointing second half, which made the rating of this book lower than Part of Your World.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. I truly am left speechless at the graceful way mental health and physical health are portrayed in this book. It’s real, raw and relatable. It was fluid, well written and a developed story. And a rare five star read on my bookshelf.

-As someone who has deeply struggled with anxiety my entire life, I felt so seen by this book. To be loved is to be understood. This books truly felt like a love letter (no pun intended but if you know you know)
- I liked that things weren’t just perfect the second they got together because that’s just not realistic. This aspect made their love story feel more real
- This book made me laugh but boy did I also cry.
- I did start to feel frustrated when they wouldn’t just communicate their feelings. Obviously this is the miscommunication trope but at one point I was like jeez this could all be solved with a single sentence.

Why couldn’t I have read this sooner. I don’t know how I lived without Jacob and Briana

Abby Jimenez really knows how to write a romance. You get to read about characters heal from their trauma and find they happily ever afters. Their healing journey is real and beautiful. Briana and Jacob were a wonderful couple. It was nice to read about big loving families.
Only itty bitty issue I had was that it was a bit repetitive and thus made the book a little long.
